How to transfer your website to another host?
« on: 02-07-2020, 11:58:26 »
Moving a website to another host consists of the following steps:

1: Moving the website's files.
2: Moving the website's database(s) (if any).
3: Configuring your application to work at the new host.
4: Pointing your domain's DNS to the new host.
5: WordPress Migrator
6: To save time and hassle, we have automated the first three steps for all WordPress transfers to SiteGround with our WordPress migrator. For detailed information about this fascinating tool, you can refer to this tutorial.

A more detailed breakdown of the steps can be found below:

Transferring the files to the new host
The most convenient way to transfer your website's files to your new web hosting account is via FTP. You should connect to your hosting account and download the files locally to your computer. Then you have to upload them to your new hosting account's main folder (usually public_html, www or httpdocs).

More information on how to use FTP can be found in our FTP tutorial.

Transferring the website's databases

You have to export the database content from your old hosting account (usually into an SQL file), create a new database at your new hosting company and import the information in it. For detailed information on how to import/export databases via phpMyAdmin you can refer to this tutorial.

Application setup on the new host
This really depends from the website application that you are using. For step-by-step instructions on how to reconfigure some of the most popular applications, you can refer to these articles:

DNS changes

Finally, you have to change the nameservers for your domain name to point to your new host.

Hope this info will be useful for webmasters here. As for reliable hosting providers can recommend these ones:
1) Liquidweb.com
2) Cloudarion.com
3) QHoster.com
Take your time to compare their hosting deals and choose the host that suits your needs and provides constant and uninterrupted services and support.

When it comes to hosting I prefer to deal with time-tested and trusted brads like Centohost.com - they are professional.
Their support and service has been excellent, even to the point of a courtesy e-mail to inquire if any help or advice can be given.

You should check the reliability and the quality of service also. Ask the host a 7-day free trial to get to know this.
As for reliable ones: kvchosting.net, lunarpages.com and hostnamaste.com - they will definitely meet your expectations.
I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good, steady host.
