Design Ideas

I was wondering how do your design ideas come to mind? Do you browse around others or do you just dive right in and see what works.

I spend a lot of time browsing the net so I already have a lot of ideas in my mind so I just jump right in.

Actually most of my ideas come out of the air, but I am going to back up here, the theme of the website is what I go by and each page is different but along the theme of the website. I do a lot of surfing, sometimes I run across a site which has a nice layout or a graphic which in turn gives me some more ideas.

If you're a designer then like me you've probably always had an eye for detail. I pick up most of my inspiration from life itself, car designs, the shape of trees, movie graphics, video games. The color combos and types of designs coming out in life are constant and when I see something i really like, be it a color or font-type or a shape, I try to introduce it into my designs.

Other methods I like to use to keep updated on the latest design trends are the web design galleries and generally reading magazines like Webdesigner Magazine and .NET :)

I use magazines, logo galleries, web design galleries and then simply just browse google for terms like "Cool Websites". Man I spend so much time on the net that I do get to see a lot of cool sites and I guess when I see something I like I do try to copy/ replicate some elements of that site into my own designs.

I brainstorm possiblities but I think it's important to write out a diagram of how you want your website such as what pages link to watch and what the purpose of each page is.

If you want to create new web designing for your website than keep in mind some tips like responsive layouts, fixed header bar, large photo background, CSS transparency, social media badges, fresh and relevant content, etc.

1. Use single page design - keep it simple
2. Create unusual icons – let your imagination come into play
3. Use attractive navigation – try out something different
4. Draw on circular elements to attract the viewer - soften hard lines and angles
5. Use good-looking textures
6. Use CSS3 to create animations, transforms and transitions –  a great alternative to Flash
7. Try out unusual designs for forms
