Title: why site lost ground for 1 keyword term

if anyone has any idea why my site (www.scarsdaleaikido.com) lost page 1 position in google with martial arts Westchester, I would appreciate your thoughts...

Good website in a whole. Not seen any troubles at last times.
Need to analyse competitors for content. Maybe google acceptors changed the SERP recently...

the third seems to do a bit more in backlinks, but other than that I can't figure out what these guys are doing that i'm not...

the third seems to do a bit more in backlinks, but other than that I can't figure out what these guys are doing that i'm not...

It's funny. Just after a first glance I see your website has a lack of media info - video, pictures. Your website has uncomfortable small font. Unreadable address. All of  these is the reason of worser behaviour factors.

You are absolutely to redesign your website nad improve usability. Remember that links are only ~40% of succeed

actually, the old version of the site had the same font size as this one and did very well with that term. I really only changed the background and text color.

the pictures and videos are on other pages. the site is designed to have more of a blog like feel with a lot of information that a quick conversion...

if you wanna to be in top for current keyword you MUST do the same and better as top do. Its how the search engine feels like :)

i know that. my question is specifically what they are doing that the search engines count to bring them higher...it's not links, keyword density, freshness of the content...

You should focus on the on site of your website rather than off-site or link building and you should always use quality content on your web pages as well as in your shared content and content marketing.
