Inbox 2.0 refers to a new generation of email clients that use data in email archives to infer people's profiles, behaviors, social graph, and importance.[1]
The term originally appeared in a New York Times article[2] and has since found wider usage.
Yahoo and Google have both announced products with Inbox 2.0 features. A number of startups such as Xobni and Xoopit are also competing in this space.[3].
The name is a reference to the Web 2.0 buzzword.
