Social media engagement metrics
PostRank is a social media analytics service that uses a proprietary ranking algorithm to measure "social engagement", which includes blog comments and links, Internet bookmarks, clicks, page views, and activities from social network services such as Twitter, Digg, and FriendFeed. The engagement metrics can be used to: rank lists of online content, like blogs and news sites by topic; enable publishers to determine where and how their audiences are reading, organizing, and sharing their posts; and to find popular posts in a feed.
In addition to filtering on the website, PostRank filtering is built into a Google Reader Add-on, a Firefox Add-on and a Web widget. PostRank filtering has also been added to the Ad Age Power 150 list of marketing blogs, the Atlantic 50 list of bloggers and columnists, the trawlr, FeedBlitz and Feedoor web readers, the Daisy Feed and FetchIt mobile RSS readers, and the Read It Later bookmarking service.
PostRank has released APIs for developers to add PostRank ranking and filtering to applications. In July 2009, PostRank launched Data Services, which is a group of APIs to enable real-time, data mining and reporting functionality for third party applications.
The company was formerly called AideRSS, Inc. In October 2008, AideRSS re-launched their website as postrank.com to focus the company's work more on the core PostRank technology. In July 2009, the company officially changed its name to PostRank Inc.
