Wix.com is a free Flash web design creation site funded by Bessemer and Mangrove Venture Capital. It enables users to create any kind of web content (Flash websites, MySpace layouts, widgets, presentations, page flip books, banners) with a simple drag and drop interface and publish that content anywhere they want.[1]

The company has received favorable reviews online and in blogsphere.[2]

Its competitors include Weebly, Jimdo, Webs, Yola (formerly Synthasite), Sprout, Yooba, and other web creation sites.[3][4]

In January 2009 The DreamWorld Company bought Wix.com from Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami and Giora Kaplan.

Founded in 2006 by Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami and Giora Kaplan, Wix launched in open beta in June 2008.[2]

In October 2008, Wix raised additional funds and launched its new Premium Upgrade features, allowing users to use their own domain, remove Wix branding, and add additional storage and bandwidth.[5]

Since it is built using a Flash platform, users have criticized that they cannot add HTML code and script to their own Wix sites. However, Wix will be adding an HTML component to their site builder soon[citation needed].
