Whatever more or less, a title tag had and has importance for ranking a keyword. An article title must contain the keyword you would like to rank in Search Engine Result Pages(SERPs).

Without relevant keyword in the title tag, how can the search engine list the right content in the search query?

Without Title tag how one can search for the particular blog or page? An article title must contain the keyword you would like to rank in Search Engine Result Pages(SERPs).
I will not rely on other website tools that believes title is not as important as that, because these title tags and title in website are crucial to the traffic that they obtained. These titles will determine your click trough rate, traffic and conversion.

There are different opinions regarding this, if you follow backlinko's blog then you can try removing the title tag and see the consequences. I think that Title tag is essential & it has benefitted my site for SEO.

The title tag is an HTML tag that exists in the head section of each webpage. It provides an initial cue or context as to what the topical subject matter is of the respective page it is on.
The title tag is always important, just like a person name. Without a title tag how to introduce your site properly with the search engine? A title tag can include your keyword, your brand name. So it is always important.
Title tag is important but now other factors also play an important role.
IMHO The title tag is the second most important on page item, bot for SEO and for conversion.
But dont take my word for it go change your title tag to something completely irrelevant and see what happens.
I think most SEOs optimise meta title for SEO and forget that being at the top of google is irrelevant unless people click through ti will always be a balancing Act.
