Come on , are you serious, forum backlinks have to be the worst ? Why would you rank forum backlinks over conventional incontent backlinks on normal blogs and websites ??
I think, now it is not working as must.
Almost all forums' links are nofollow or redirect.
So, it can move you only traffic.

I too like to participate in forums. It helps to increase traffic and backlinks. But in some forums you have to sign in the account if you want to see signatures those type of forums wont give backlinks because google spiders wont have account, I think participating in those forums wont give any advantages.
In addition to off site forum offerings, you can also consider hosting a forum on your own website instead.

Yes it does, watch for "no-follow" links. But market samurai even has a promotion feature with Xforum posts. Someone please check me on this, but I believe signatures count as Perhaps the SE bot hasn't counted them all, some maybe classed as insignificant, maybe previous backlinks have ceased; it can be for any reason. You just need to make sure that you keep generating backlinksbacklinks, as long as you post. You should always save the URL to the post or page that has your backlink (comment, post, thread, yahoo answers) and ping all of those pages. Copy and paste all the URLs to a .txt file and do 'em all later. I use a little tool to ping and "meta index" these pages - 150 pings and 1000 meta indexes for each url. A GoogleBot had better catch one and index the page so I get my damn backlink asap.

I like this back link method too. Like you said, the posts get indexed quickly so it lets the search engines recognize your website link in the signature. Additionally, talking to other people on the forums doesn't feel like work!

This is one of my favorite method of obtaining back links, as long as you post quality comments, you will benefit.
True that form posting is one of the effective method for getting backlinks and traffic. But if one do posting in quality sites and has provide the quality content in the post , then it can provide more efficient result for using this techniques. And in forum one has to be live in discussion in that topic and should not live it just after the post once.

Even if you post to a PR 0 forum, Google will indexed that post as fast as it index other forums with high PR. So don't make it hard for yourselves. If you have a chance to drop a link, do it.
