Hello,

How to exclude duplicate content from being indexed by Google?

Yuga

There are two good ways to do this. 301 redirects are the best option. 301 redirects consolidate link authority, prompt de-indexation, and also redirect the user to the new page. Google has stated that it assigns 100 percent of the link authority to the new page with a 301 redirect.

I do local SEO. Website design is now a major factor for SEO. I have added plugins for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google listing, Linkedin and Yelp. Google SEO has processed major changes.

If you do create placeholder pages, use the noindex tag to block these pages from being indexed. Understand your content management system: Make sure you're familiar with how content is displayed on your web site. Blogs, forums, and related systems often show the same content in multiple formats.

Here are the three ways I recommend.
The rel=canonical tag. In most cases, the rel=canonical tag is the best way to transfer SEO juice from a duplicate page to another page. ...
301 redirect. Sometimes, you don't want the duplicate of your web page to stick around. ...
Set passive parameters in Google Search Console.

Know what's in Google's index.
Optimize sitemaps, robots.
Get a handle on URL parameters.
Good and bad filters.
Proper use of no index and canonicalization.

In simple words, duplicate content refers to substantial blocks of content inside or across domains is either completely match or are significantly similar to other content in the same language.

Google makes a concerted effort to index and display pages with unique content. This filtering means that if each article on your site has a "normal" and "printer" version, and neither of them is blocked by a no-index tag, they'll list one of them.

In the rare circumstances when Google believes duplicate material is being displayed with the purpose to deceive our users and manipulate our rankings, they'll make appropriate changes to the indexing and ranking of the sites concerned. As a result, the site's rating may decrease, or it may be completely removed from the Google index, meaning it will no longer display in search results.
