Title: PPC Vs Organic SEO
Post by: ryosuzuki on 06-13-2010, 06:24:43
Which one really comes out top PPC or SEO.

I used to think organic SEO was the only true method but unlike PPC which you can turn on and off at a flick of a switch SEO can fluctuate, so one day you're ranked up and then you're on page 2 struggling.

I guess the best approach is to do abit of both but I'm really starting to think that getting a solid grounding in PPC is almost essential now. What's everyone elses thoughts on this.

I don't agree. I have spent some money using PPC system and after stopping it I lost all visitors.
So, only organic and natural SEO can give you permanent stream of visitors (IMHO).

I completely agree with you and its a long term profit method...You fail on PPC systems, if you don't choose the keywords properly and lose of money....

I think you can use ppc as long as it makes money for you. The money you get is more than the money you spend, why don't you use it? And seo, of course it's the cornerstone of your website.

Also PPC is costly and for short time, but in SEO you input once and get long term results and genuine traffic on your website.

PPC can be effective if used correctly, the best time to use it is when  you are first starting out. Once your site move higher in the organic ranks then you can start reducing your budget. Organic SEO is the best option.

In simple words SEO is chargless service when PPC is paid service. PPC gets your website listed on search engines as soon as you sign up for it. Unlike SEO which requires lengthy campaigns, research and 'tweaking' in order to achieve a similar feat.

Organic SEO more cost effective than PPC (but not always!).
Organic SEO help you to increase rankings for keywords that might otherwise be out of budget in the PPC channel.

PPC for paid listing to get instant traffic to your site but SEO for organic listing on SERP.   Difference is (PPC)paid service and (SEO) free service for web traffic to your site.

If your site is relatively new and doesn't have any organic traffic then you should use PPC to get some traffic. But at the same time you should work on SEO part to get ranking and start organic traffic. Once you start getting organic traffic you should stop PPC and rely on the SEO traffic. Always remember organic traffic is your long term benefit plan.

Sure, what WDguru said is accurate, but make sure to manage your PPC campaign "closely" so it doesn't get out of control.  You will always get clicks with PPC and it can dry you out real quick.

Obviously SEO is better than PPC if we think in the terms of money. But it is also true that SEO is not a game of one night. It has long-term results but you have to wait for several months. But if we want top results instantly then PPC is the best option for us.

Hello guys,

In my point of view, Pay per click (PPC) is a type of paid advertising through search engines, most notably Google, where as Organic SEO depends upon having good, useful content on your site and arranging it in such a way that both site visitors and search engines find it easily.

Thanks a lot

PPC and Organic SEO both are important in Search Engine Marketing. With PPC you can get instant visibility on SERPs but with organic SEO you have to keep patience to get top ranking in  SERPs. But, Now a days people prefer organic SEO rather than PPC.

Despite the fact that both organic SEO and PPC are part of the same system. PPC is the instant way of getting traffic for your site as well as known to get best ROI thing. Organic SEO is slow process to get web promotion but it provide long lasting benefits.

PPC is best way to get traffic on the new website, seasonal offers. Its not for the long-term. If you have money in the pocket then you can get traffic. So its better initially invest some money on ppc but also focus on SEO. SEO will give you free traffic after 6 months or an year.
The truth is that both organic SEO and paid search marketing can be essential to your bottom line, but you never identify until you try them. Both should be experienced to see if they work for your business model and type of website. So which is the best for you? It may be PPC or organic Search engine optimization? Maybe using BOTH internet marketing techniques suits your business.

The most obvious difference between SEO & PPC is the cost tag. In PPC, you are paying for the clicks that PPC sends your way, whereas the clicks from SEO are free. In other word, getting to the top of the SEO tree for most profitable search terms requires hard work. Getting to the top of the PPC tree for the same search terms requires funds....

When you purchase visitors or "clicks" from a search engine, this is called "pay-per-click" (PPC) search engine advertising (or PPCSE). Pay-Per-Click Search Engine Advertising allows you to quickly get top search engine placement by "bidding" (paying) for keywords related to your product or service.

"Organic" or "Natural" search engine optimization (SEO) is accomplished by optimizing your web pages and by increasing your "link popularity" by acquiring or paying for links that point to your web site. This gives you high rankings at the Search Engines for your chosen search terms.

SEO is the combination of marketing skills and technical skills. The marketing skills are necessary for writing content that will sell; knowing the market that is being targeted; and knowing which keyword phrases are best for the company. Technical skills are necessary to understand how the website is built; knowing if a search engine spider will be able easily access the website; how to reconstruct or reconfigure parts of the site; and how to optimize specific elements of the website.

PPC is the combination of marketing skills and analytic skills. Again, the marketing skills are necessary for writing the paid ads – knowing how to write ads that will entice people to click on the ads, and delivering landing pages that will sell the product or services. The marketing skills also include the ability to test the campaigns. PPC campaigns can be very costly if the wrong keywords are being used. If visitors are clicking on high priced keywords, but the visitors rarely convert to customers – this can be very expensive. One benefit of PPC, is the capability of running keyword tests quickly to assess the optimal keywords for the campaign. The analytic skills are essential to the testing and evaluating the success of the campaign and knowing what to change to maintain a successful campaign.

Why SEO Would Win the Fight

SEO's return on investment will continue to rise long after PPC has peaked. This is because of several reasons. If you are consistently searching for similar terms (because it's your field of interest) then you will start to see the same ads and develop the equivalent of banner blindness (visually tuning out the ads). UPPERCUT!
85% of clicks resulting from a search are on the organic links rather than the paid ads. HAYMAKER!
86% of web searchers trust organic SEO listings more than sponsored/paid PPC listings. LOW-BLOW! (ouch)

Why PPC Would Win the Fight

PPC has instant results and can generate visitors as soon as you turn on the taps (much faster than SEO which needs to build authority for your site). Adding in a crowd sourced company like Trada and you can not only take the work off your plate – but see a higher ROI as a result. #RABBITPUNCH
You can manage your budget and measure your ROI much more easily with PPC. #STIFFJAB
50% of people arriving at a retailers site from paid ads are more likely to buy than those who came from an organic link. #KIDNEYPUNCH

Organic SEO
Organic SEO boosts your visibility naturally by getting others to talk about you, mention your brand, and link back to your site. It focuses more on providing relevant information and establishing your brand as an industry leader. It takes no less than six months to see results, but the visibility you achieve is more permanent as long as you maintain online presence.

Organic SEO will not cost much because you are building your clients' visibility mostly on free platforms. You only have to pay a monthly fee for implementation, but the rest of the tools are available at your disposal for no extra charge.

Pay Per Click
PPC is a type of push or interruption marketing, a direct selling method where you can instantly publish your brand message. Your space and your visibility are both limited, but you can share your message at once, which is ideal for crisis management and for building visibility at the start of your campaign. It is also unaffected by search engine algorithmic changes.
PPC is more expensive than SEO because of the higher cost per acquisition (CPA) rate. Aside from the maintenance fee, you also need to pay for every click that your ad gets.

Organic SEO is cheaper advertising technique which helps in getting more traffic, increasing PR on search engine. PPC is comparatively expensive advertising technique yet more effective, whereby the owner gets paid for every time the visitor clicks on the webpage.

Organic SEO is technically free. Organic search engine results do not discriminate among big and small internet companies. As long as the search engine algorithm finds a page the most relevant to an organic query, then it will become the top result.

If you want immediate traffic, then PPC advertising is the way to go.But it si costly.SO organic SEO is better than PPC

SEO and PPC are two different ways of promoting a website . in seo as we know we list our website in various search engines and we look after the site ranking in the search engine, by maintaining our site by looks , info, content, performance etc. and other things like submitting links of our site to other related sites. but in PPC which is called pay per click we pay for the as many as clicks, our site viewers click the site, and we pay for the ads we made in other sites, this is also a way of promoting the site, other ways are blogging , writing article about our site, joining forums, etc.

I think both are equal because PPC and Organic SEO both are used ranking of your website, PPC is forcing you to click by appearing in front of you while Organic SEO is working backside that helps for making backlinks to your websites "quality back links". In simple word PPC you have to pay and in Organic SEO you have to earn... ::)

The main difference between Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) is that traffic coming from SEO (organic) is free while traffic generated from PPC is not free (as the name implies you have to pay a cost per click).  This is also the reason why you may sometimes see the terms organic search engine listings and paid search engine listings (or Paid Search Advertising – PSA).

PPC is when you want to get instant traffic by paying for it on a cost per click basis. Organic SEO is where you make your site rank on top of organic search results (free/non-paid) so that you get visitors to your site without having to pay for it. According to me organic SEO lasts longer and gives more visitors.

PPC and organic seo both have their own importance.
SEO is a slow process so it takes times, seo provides more visibility so it helps in branding also. While ppc provide less visibility but provides quick results. It is very fast then SEO. When we need instant seo position then we use PPC otherwise we should prefer organic seo.

PPC and organic search, both are helpful for a website to increase the traffic on it instantly. But what I would suggest you to go with PPC first as it will help you to attract the online visitors within an instant. This will help you to increase your business in a particular field and help you to reach different locations easily.

Whereas Organic search is also helpful for an online business but it works when you have a popularity in the market. Organic search can be increased only if you have done proper SEO for your business and it works long lasting. So, its better to start PPC first if you need instant traffic on your website through search engines. But remember, it is a bit expensive than SEO.

SEO and PPC are different line ups. PPC is used for direct traffic to our landing page and is a purely paid promotion. You pay money to the Search Engine and they display your Ads up in search results.
SEO is a wider term which employs techniques to show up in the search engine organically by the means of On Page and off Page activities.

SEO and PPC both have their pros and cons, and really it depends on what your goals are. SEO can be a long-term strategy, but it does fluctuate a lot. One week you could be on the first page, and the next you're nowhere to be found. That's frustrating for sure.

On the other hand, PPC gives you instant visibility. You can start getting clicks and traffic right away, which is great if you need quick results. The downside is that once you stop paying, the traffic stops too. So it's not a sustainable long-term solution by itself.

I think a balanced approach is the best way. Investing in both PPC and SEO can give you the benefits of immediate exposure while also building up your organic presence. Plus, having experience in PPC can really help you understand keywords and audience targeting, which can inform your SEO efforts as well.

If you're interested in taking a more long-term, sustainable approach, you might want to use SEO. If your goal is to increase your visibility fast, you may want to use pay-per-click marketing. Keep in mind that your digital marketing strategy can use both of these together.

When comparing PPC (Pay-Per-Click) and Organic SEO, both strategies offer unique advantages depending on your goals. Let's break down the key differences and help you decide which might be better suited for your business:

Cost:

PPC requires paying for every click on your ad. The more competitive the keyword, the higher the cost per click. It's a direct investment, but you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
Organic SEO focuses on earning traffic through optimized content, keywords, and backlinks. While the initial investment may be in content creation or hiring an SEO expert, you don't pay for each click.

Speed of Results:

PPC provides immediate results. As soon as your ad goes live, you can start seeing traffic and leads.
Organic SEO, on the other hand, is a long-term game. It may take months to climb search engine rankings, but the results can be sustainable over time.

Visibility:

PPC ads are displayed at the top of search engine results pages (SERPs) and across platforms like social media and online display advertising services. These ads get prime real estate but are labeled as ads, which can sometimes deter users.
Organic SEO listings appear under the ads and are viewed as more trustworthy by many users. A top organic ranking can signal to users that your site is a credible source.

Credibility:

Organic SEO tends to have higher trust levels. Users often prefer clicking on organic links because they believe these results to be more authentic and less "salesy."
PPC ads may be viewed as more promotional, which could affect trust, especially if the ad content doesn't match user expectations.

Click-Through Rate (CTR):

Organic listings usually have a higher CTR than PPC ads, particularly if the page ranks high on the first page of search results.
PPC can bring in clicks quickly but may have a lower CTR if users skip over ads to organic results.

Longevity:

Organic SEO efforts can provide long-term value. Once you've achieved a high ranking, it can drive traffic consistently with minimal ongoing costs.
PPC only drives traffic while you're paying for ads. Once the budget runs out, so does the visibility.

Conversion Rates:

PPC often results in quicker conversions because the ads are tailored to target users with purchase intent. However, the cost-per-conversion may be higher.
Organic SEO converts users who are searching more generally, and while it may take longer to see a return on investment, the conversion rates can be strong in the long term.

Flexibility:

PPC campaigns allow for quick adjustments. If you're testing new keywords, running a promotion, or entering a new market, PPC provides flexibility to adapt on the fly.
SEO is less flexible. Changing your SEO strategy can take time to reflect in rankings and requires more patience.

Data Insights:

PPC campaigns provide immediate data and insights. You can quickly see what works, what doesn't, and adjust your strategy accordingly.
SEO analytics take longer to show trends, but it still offers valuable insights into what content and keywords are performing best.

Combining Both:

While PPC and Organic SEO seem like separate strategies, many successful businesses use both to maximize their reach. Using PPC for immediate traffic while growing your organic presence over time can create a balanced approach. Plus, combining PPC with online display advertising services can expand visibility across multiple platforms.
By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both strategies, you can create a well-rounded digital marketing plan that fits your business's goals and budget.
