I know many people do use alexa as a gauge of traffic but which ranking is more important the local one or the global.
For example what if the global rank is mainly made up of traffic from low paying sources e.g. Pakistan, India, Indonesia. Where as another site which has a slightly higher global rank but has great rankings for USA traffic. In my eyes the USA one would be a better site.
What do you guys look at when looking at alexa ? Global or Local rankings
I always check the overall rank, and I mainly only really refer to alexa when i'm buying sites. So some of the common check's i'll do.
1.) check web traffic stats
2.) check alexa to see if it roughly ties in
3.) check overall rank to see if it's less than 100,00
4.) check the local rankings for US and UK traffic
So I use both as a gauge but definitely use the overall rank as the key indicator of traffic.
Voila Alexa Rank Checker (http://www.seomastering.com/alexa-rank-checker.php)
It will give you up to 42 graphics to Analyse.
I look at both local and global, but especially local USA traffic. The majority of my traffic comes from here because I have a USA gaming website and I would be very confused if the majority traffic is not USA
Looking for demographic traffic is important as discussed in this thread. That is why demographic advertising is popular of late.
I see all the local and global level, but most local U.S. traffic. Motion unless a majority of the United States I am an American I am very confused at the game site's class, most of my traffic comes from here.
Depends on your targeted country. If your targeted country is USA than you should look that only no matter where your site is ranking in india

by usa or india aswell.
I check locally only, I would want my software site to rank high in US but I think if the local ranking is good it would have a better ranking globally.
I always check my alexa ranking only Global because my customers are globally. Most of time i use Google analytics to check current traffic and other things but alexa is a another tool for this
Well, it depends if you are website is Geo-targeting a specific location. But for my website I monitor both global and local rankings.
I generally check the general rank, and I principally just truly allude to alexa when i'm purchasing locales. So a portion of the normal check's i'll do.
1.) check web activity details
2.) check alexa to check whether it harshly ties in
3.) check general rank to check whether its under 100,00
4.) check the neighborhood rankings for US and UK movement
So I utilize both as a gage however without a doubt utilize the general rank as the key pointer of movement.
