Yes without your own domain you cant participate in certain money making programs like adsense,buysеllads etc.
I get money from blog by means of decent ads like adsenses and ad brites.

Yes I also agree that if you have your own domain then you can participate into different making money activities. but i you don't have the it is not possible.
