How Did You Choose the Right SEO Agency for Your Business?

Hi everyone ;) ,

We're planning to invest in SEO for the first time and want to get it right. I've read a bunch of "best SEO agency" articles, but after a while they all start looking like affiliate content.

That's why I'm asking here instead of relying on Google results.

A few names I've come across are Ignite Visibility, Coalition, and ResultFirst, but I'm more interested in hearing real experiences from business owners who've actually worked with an agency.

What made you choose the agency you hired, and what would you do differently if you had to start over?

Good question, and smart move asking here instead of trusting the listicles. Most of those "best agency" roundups are pay-to-play, so they all sound the same because they're selling placements, not ranking on merit.

I haven't hired an agency myself recently, but the pattern from businesses that share their experiences is pretty consistent. The engagements that work out tend to start with a proper audit and a strategy doc before anyone talks about monthly packages. Push for specific deliverables: which technical fixes, what content gets produced, how they build links, and reporting that's actually readable instead of a vanity-metrics PDF.

When vetting, ask them to walk you through one account similar to yours - what they did in months 1-3, what the baseline was, what the numbers looked like at month 6. If they dodge or only show cherry-picked screenshots, there's your answer. On timelines, three to six months before you can fairly judge is the honest range; anyone promising page one in 60 days on competitive terms is selling you something.

Biggest red flags: guaranteed rankings, "proprietary methods" they won't explain, and long lock-in contracts with no performance clause.

This breakdown of what full SEO packages cover gives you a decent checklist to compare quotes against, whatever you pick. Get the deliverables in writing before signing.
