Title: Fake Google My Business location
Post by: c-gun21000 on 10-12-2016, 03:12:36
Does anyone have experience with fake Google locations?
I'm just curious since I never heard that site get penalized or hurt in rankings for making fake location, the worst case is to get reported by users and removed location.

But with new Possum update does anything change in that aspect?

As with just about all forms of manipulation, spam, trickery, etc. in Google, it will eventually come to a screeching hault and the people who have stuck to their tried and true methods for success will prevail. Take a deep breaths as you may be under water for a while but it too will pass.

All of the big shots who bought links paid hefty fines last year. It took a while but the little guys who kept to the grind came out in a good position and weathered the Google storms.

Google also has rules about street signage and physical mailing addresses that the company uses to dоcument and verify whether GMB locations are legitimate. All of this means that it's expressly against Google's terms of service (ToS) to establish a "virtual" (that is, fake) location for your business.
