Seems to be at the same place - http://www.google.com/alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts)
I have never used it, could you explain what it is? And what is the profit for SEO using this service?

I can see them too... maybe they weren't working for you ?

they send out emails to people that want to be informed about certain subjects, when sites publish something new aobut that topic and are ranked high in google.

So kind of great for collecting news and info about subjects you're interested in. This is good for content building and generally keeping your sites up to date which is a part of SEO.

Go to Google Alerts. If you see a message that says your alerts have been disabled, click Enable. In the "My Alerts" section, click the alert you want to see results for. To check your email address and settings, click Show options.
