In the current index, which people will continue to get a result from, desktop content is indexed an used for showing listing to both desktop and mobile user. A special mobile-friendly ranking system is then used to boost content from Googles mobile listing.

Nowadays people are using mobile phone to search on Google so, They have changed crawling from a desktop browser point of view to a mobile browser. This is the reason to make a Responsive website (Mobile friendly). If your website doesn’t have a mobile-friendly version, the desktop will be crawled by Google, but it could negatively impact on your website’s rankings.

Mobile-first indexing means Google predominantly uses the mobile version of the content for indexing and ranking. ... Google Search continues to show the URL that is the most appropriate to users (whether it's a desktop or mobile URL) in Search results.
