Hey All,

I'm creating a section on my site for resources of news and advice related to the products my site sells. Also I am creating a banner for people who may want to add our site to their links page, however we're not making it a requirement.

Basically what I want to know i,s what is the best way to optimize the banner link code that would offer the most benefit to my site SEO wise if/when we do get a link from another site.

To optimize the banner link code and maximize SEO benefits when getting a link from another site, consider the following:

1. Image Alt Text: Ensure that the image used in the banner link has descriptive alt text containing relevant keywords. This not only helps with accessibility but also provides context to search engines.

2. Link Anchor Text: If the banner is linked, utilize descriptive anchor text to provide context to both users and search engines. Include relevant keywords relating to your site's products for maximum SEO impact.

3. HTML5 Markup: Use semantic HTML5 markup to define the banner link. This provides clear indications to search engines about the purpose of the banner and its associated link.

For example, if your banner is placed within a <header> or <aside> element, use appropriate tags like <a> for the link and <img> for the image, with proper alt and title attributes.

4. Schema Markup: Implement structured data markup, such as Schema.org, to provide search engines with additional information about the banner link and its relationship to your site.

5. Relevant Landing Page: Ensure that the banner link directs visitors to a relevant landing page on your site. This could be a resources page, news section, or advice hub related to the products your site sells. Having the link point to a contextually relevant page can improve user experience and signal to search engines the thematic relevance of the link.

6. Internal Linking: Where applicable, incorporate internal links within the content of the landing page the banner links to. This helps distribute link equity throughout your site and reinforces the topical relevance of the page.

7. Responsive Design: If the banner is an image, ensure it is responsive and mobile-friendly. Google gives preference to mobile-friendly websites in search results, so optimizing the banner for mobile devices is important for SEO.

8. Site Speed: Optimize the banner image for fast loading times. Site speed is a ranking factor for search engines, and optimizing images can contribute to improved page performance.

9. Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with other bloggers in your niche for guest posts, cross-promotion, or joint projects. Building relationships with influencers and fellow bloggers can expose your blog to a wider audience.

10. Email Outreach: Reach out to other bloggers, website owners, and influencers via email to introduce them to your blog or propose collaboration opportunities. Personalized outreach can help you establish valuable connections and drive traffic to your blog.

11. Community Engagement: Engage with online communities and forums related to your blog's niche. Participate in discussions, share your expertise, and subtly promote your blog when appropriate to attract potential readers.

12. Repurpose Content: Convert your blog posts into different formats such as videos, infographics, or podcasts to appeal to diverse audiences and expand your reach across various platforms.

13. Use Google Analytics: Analyze your blog traffic using Google Analytics to identify popular posts, track user behavior, and understand where your traffic is coming from. This data can help you refine your content strategy and focus on topics that resonate with your audience.

14. Run Contests and Giveaways: Organize contests or giveaways on your blog or social media channels to encourage user engagement and attract new visitors.

15. Mobile Optimization: Ensure that your blog is optimized for mobile devices as a significant portion of internet traffic comes from mobile users.

16. Leverage Long-Tail Keywords: Target long-tail keywords in your content to capture more specific search queries and attract highly targeted traffic.

Best way to optimize the banner:

- Place your banner ads in your product page which is related to your banner.

- Use call to action words.
- Use dedicated landing page link in your banner.

Hi there,

In my opinion, use a direct  hyper link and place your keywords in an ALT attribute. A simple text link with keywords in the hyper link is best, but if you are going to use an image, use the ALT attribute for the keywords.

Thanks a lot
