I think one way link building is safe and best.
One way link building is the most effective for getting the result as it pass on the benefit only to own site. And two way or reciprocal links are helpful when exchange links with the related and quality site. Three way links are not so helpful for the site.
One way link from more authority sites are treated as the best way of link building. Google just d evaluate the sites which undergoes link exchange programs. Three way link exchange are better than reciprocal link exchange.

In one way link building, no need to exchange links with other websites.
As you know link exchanges can be frustrating and very time consuming because you need to find the right sites to exchange links with plus the response may be little or nothing. Most site owners delete these requests.
So it would better to go for one way link building, instead of 2 or 3 way.

of course one way is beneficial but 2 way link exchange is also equally beneficial .I dont recommend 3 way as people may not get expected results .

One way link building is the most effective way in the link building to get good traffic and get back link for your sites.but you should need to do quality work on the quality do follow sites.
The only and best way to generate more & more back links for your site is by doing Social Bookmarking & Listing Submission.
But, look at the keywords you are targeting, as in case you are targeting a keyword which don't have global search count in search engines then that keyword & link building for that will be go vain.

i dont agree 3 way is better than reciprocal its my perspective .Even Google dont recommend 3 way or you need to read google blog for more details /But reciprocal is what a good way to get better ranking in search engines we do it regularly and found the best practice indeed

Because two way link building is exchange of our link with the other websites which may be harmful for us .
Three way link building is nothing then time consuming and without notification the link can be removed from website any time. >:D
