My question is do members of this forum receive automatic credit for a google "dofollow" link simply by creating an account and adding website in the profile info?
My web page is somewhat new, does not have a page rank, doesn't have any back links yet and it does not show up on any google returns.
So now I am attempting to fix this issue on my own. I am tech savvy but NOT SEO savvy.
Please help if you have any ideas.

Posting links in forums doesn't return much value to your website. Forum are rarely cached and indexed by search engines. So whether you have a 'do follow' or a 'no follow' link on your forum profile, it will not make much difference. Links on forums are solely responsible to generate and drive traffic to your website.

Forum is not for generate back links. Its for discussion and sharing knowledge with other members.
Forum links can be used for website traffic.
You have to do other link building task to get high PR back links.
