Content and backlinks both are equally important for your website to rank higher in search engines. Content helps to optimize keywords and rank them higher, whereas backlinks also help to rank keywords and generate traffic to your website.

Both, the link building and content are important to rank your website in search engine. As search engines use links to crawl the web; they will crawl the links to find a new web pages. After this crawling process the content of those pages are indexed and depending on the quality of content, search engine decide to rank or not the web page. In this way, to get crawl links are important and to rank quality content is important.

I hope you get my point.

Content is very important if you want your website to get notices in front of the millions of website on google search pages.Content is the king now a days.Having made the use of proper keywords and making unique content  can increase the visibility of your keyword and also your website.Make content for the users and not the search engines. The more people will link back to your post or content the more backlinks you will generate. And you will be in google's good book.If you update your website with your latest n going trend which relates to your industry or company you will create user engagement an another great way to generate leads. This are the few things i came across and learned.Content and link building are related to each other i.e they are inseparable.
Hope this helps

Content marketing is, essentially, building links the way Google wants you to. The guidelines issued by Google are simple: links should be created naturally by users, and not by site owners.
Old fashioned link building  is a dangerous game, and Google has a very good track record of catching up with offenders.
Content marketing is a safer, smarter alternative that generates good results without the headaches.
In mane cases, content marketing is a much more cost-effective SEo method than traditional link building.
Unlike traditional link building, which focuses purely on direct marketing, a good content marketing campaign also enhances your brand.

Link Building -other signals, links, along with content remain the most important external signal for Google's search rankings. But as you'll find, some links are more valuable than others. ... The quality of their opinions is better, so they carry more weight.

Hmm, I don't think this is clear as I don't know the term "useful" here is used in which matter. I mean, both are important in their own way. In terms of getting traffic, we need to have good content to attract more audiences and create frequent visitors. In this backlinks can help people to know the link leading to our ranking site, but without good content, these backlinks won't do any good to keep the audiences interested in our ranking site.
On the other hand, in terms of google ranking, it's literally impossible to rank higher in google search without backlinks, no matter how good our content is.
And so I don't think which one is more important, the question is: which one we need to focus more during a particular time?

As we all know unique and high quality content is useful for a website as well as backlinks are also useful but not more than links if your content is great and impressive then link building gives you more benefits to your website.

If they're not the most important, they're definitely one of the best SEO strategies out there. That's because backlinks tell Google you're an authoritative source. ... Backlinks not only improve the linked page's authority but can also improve your overall domain authority. Backlinks have even more benefits.

Content can help build a natural internal linking structure. ... The above four points establish the fact that content is more important for your website than backlinks but links have a key role to play for your website to appear in the top pages of search engine rankings.

I think that content is more useful than link building, but that's because you'll never rank high without quality content. Before you get into off-page SEO (link building), you have to ensure your site is user-friendly, helpful, and interesting. Starting a link-building campaign for a site that isn't ready, will just speed up its death.
Finally, people may link to you if you have quality content, and there are website owners that have never bought backlinks, and they have incredibly popular websites.
Still, it doesn't mean that you don't need backlinks. That's not the case. I used to buy crowd links as these links are natural and quite effective.

IS content more useful than link building? This is a difficult question to answer, as it depends on your specific business and marketing goals.

If your goal is to increase traffic to your website, then content marketing is essential. However, if you want to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs), then you will need to build links back to your website. So it really depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Generally speaking, however, high-quality content will help you attract links naturally, while good link-building tactics can improve your site's rank in the SERPs. So both are important aspects of online marketing.

There is no simple answer to this question, as it depends on a number of factors. Generally speaking, however, content is more important than link building when it comes to SEO.

That's because search engines are increasingly focused on delivering quality results that provide the best user experience possible. And quality content is one of the best ways to achieve that goal.

Of course, link building still plays a role in SEO, but it's not nearly as important as it once was. So if you're looking to improve your website's ranking, focus on creating high-quality content that will engage your audience and attract links from other websites.

There are a variety of link building strategies but not all of them are actually the best practice when it comes to SEO. One of the most common link building strategies is the generating and exchanging links between one's website and other sites that have some relationship with your field, then exchanging information on your website with links to theirs. This is a very effective strategy, but there has been more preferred way of doing this and now people prefer IS content than link building.

If you neglect the importance of backlinks, you risk your entire strategy collapsing under algorithm updates. The truth is, content may be king, but link building is the throne that supports it. Without that throne, your kingdom of content is vulnerable to the whims of search engines.

Both content and link building are important, but if I had to choose one, high-quality content is the more sustainable foundation. Great content naturally attracts links, while poor content can't be saved by backlinks.
