The Idea behind the Link Pyramid is that while link juice can pass from one site to the next, ranking penalties generally stop after one hop. It works on the premise that the lowest quality sites link upwards to the next higher quality sites in your network. Sites can link laterally and upwards but not downwards.

Link pyramid has three level structures
1) Base Links
2) Mid Links
3) Highest quality links
In the base level, there are poor links, Mid links are links from web sites that have more authority than base links and highest quality links have high PR links with best quality in the comparison of base and mid links.

The main objective of the link pyramid is to link the sites of lower quality and connect to the next higher quality sites.

In my point of view link pyramid is basically used to increase the rank of low websites. It works on the premise that the lowest quality sites link upwards to the next higher quality sites in your network. Sites can link laterally and upwards but not downwards.

I didnot know this and based on what I have understood.
example: 4 low quality link to each other plus they link to 3 more sites. all 4 sites linking to 7 sites.
now those 3 sites which are getting links from 4 sites link further to amongst themselves that is 3 and then they link to 1 more site which is the biggest. and then the one at the top is the eventual high PR site.

Does this count for the relevance of links coming through?

By default, the lower link to view the pyramids are used to increase the ranking of websites. It is the most low-quality sites in the network, then a higher quality connection to the top of the site subject to the fact that work. Laterally at the bottom of the top, but you can link to your site.

Link pyramid is a structure made by your content, external and internal links. Also the backlinks pointing to that content play an important role in that. This is considered when your PR is being calculated... :)

Link Pyramid is a advanced link building technique, in which links are divided in three tiers (1). High Quality Links, (2). Mid Grade Links, (3). Base Links. In this technique lowest quality sites link upwards to the next higher quality sites in your network.

Image worth a thousand words.....

The image describes few links pyramids that on a low level links between each other (it's an old one so today it's less recommended)
and eventually links to the main website/url (in the middle, it says 'target site" in Hebrew)

A link pyramid is a structured form of link scheme using several tiers of links.

Link pyramids aim at creating link juice for intermediary and first tier links. It is also a way to prevent sanctions for the money site which is only directly connected with "good quality" first tier backlinks.

Link pyramid is way to represent tiered link building.

Packaged link pyramids are seldomly effective and may be dangerous for the money site because the pyramid may be detected by Google and because the first tier backlinks are often poor links.

Link pyramids are a pictoral/theoretical breakdown of how the back links of any website should look like. The visual representation of the link pyramid is the exact representation of the back linking strategy that all websites/blogs should follow. The base or the bottom part of the pyramid should contain low quality links – numerous in numbers. Low quality links are easy to obtain but do not individually add much back link value to a site. But collectively, they can pass on considerable amount of link juice to the mid level links.

A link pyramid is a shady SEO practice that exploits search engine algorithms. It's a deliberate attempt to game the system by creating artificial link hierarchies, which can lead to penalties or even deindexation.
The pyramid's structure is designed to deceive search engines into thinking the hub is more authoritative than it actually is, but it's a tactic that's increasingly ineffective and risky.

Tiered Link Building, or a link pyramid, is a SEO technique for creating external links (backlinks) where these are categorized into different levels based on their characteristics. The concept is as follows: Each level (or tier) exclusively links to the immediately higher level and never to the rest.
