According to what I have read three way link exchange refers to a kind of reciprocal exchange among three domains instead of two. However, with the Google Update happening I don't think that its still applicable to use it.
Google will penalize the sites who perform the artificial link building,three way link building is just a way to avoid this detection
I think the question would be, Is Three Way Link Building is still a good strategy while the Google keeps on changing there Algorithm.
