email spam controls and security controls
« on: 09-15-2015, 00:58:06 »
I've been getting a lot of spam emails lately, i don't know why our IT was not able to filter it. Now i'm afraid that i maybe have malwares and viruses in my laptop. Is there a better way to automatically filter out unwanted email messages and block attacks from phishing, malware, and viruses?

Yes, there are several ways to enhance your email security and protect against spam, phishing, malware, and viruses. Here are a few recommendations:

1. Use a reputable email service provider: Consider using an email service that includes strong built-in security features, such as spam filters and virus scanners.

2. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Use 2FA to add an extra layer of security to your email account. This ensures that even if your password is compromised, unauthorized access is still unlikely.

3. Be cautious with email attachments and links: Avoid opening attachments or clicking on links in emails from unknown or suspicious sources. These can often contain malware or lead to phishing pages.

4. Regularly update your operating system and software: Keeping your software up to date helps to patch security vulnerabilities and reduce the risk of malware infections.

5. Use antivirus software: Install and regularly update reliable antivirus software on your laptop. This can help detect and remove any existing malware.

6. Educate yourself about phishing: Learn to recognize common phishing techniques and red flags. Be wary of emails that ask for personal information, financial details, or login credentials.

7. Report and mark spam emails: If you receive unsolicited emails, mark them as spam. Reporting such messages helps train spam filters to better identify and block similar emails in the future.

8. Regularly back up your data: Create regular backups of important files to protect against data loss in the event of malware infection or other security incidents.

You should install Kaspersky email protecter to automatically remove spam link in email. I am using it, quite good
