E-commerce Seo
Hello all,
I'm newbie here.
I'm doing Seo of an e-commerce site that has several categories
and thousands of product pages.
But the problem is most of them are third parties products that have no
meaning.
All these product pages content are either thin content or duplicate content.
I want to deindex those pages from the Google search because it may be the cause of google penalty.
I'm writing original & fresh content for our products.
Manual removing is a very time-consuming.
I'm using all in one SEO plugin.
Is there any way to deindex a category and all products pages of that category get deindex automatically?
Is should i go for Canonical tag?
Is robots.txt can help me out?
Is google's disavow tool can help me? ( but it is a very time-consuming process)
Please Help me out :-)

Please, someone can let me know how to deindex the pages through robots.text?
Dealing with thin or duplicate content on an e-commerce site can indeed be challenging. Here are a few options you can consider to address this issue:
1. Canonical Tags: Using canonical tags can help indicate the preferred version of duplicate pages to search engines. This can consolidate the ranking signals for similar pages and help avoid the penalty for duplicate content.
2. Robots.txt: You can use the robots.txt file to block search engines from crawling specific categories or product pages. However, keep in mind that this won't guarantee deindexing, as search engines may still index blocked pages from other sources or links.
3. Meta Noindex: Another option is to add a meta noindex tag to the category and product pages you want to deindex. This tells search engines not to include those pages in their index.
4. Disavow Tool: The Google Disavow Tool is primarily used for handling backlinks, not content deindexing. So it may not be suitable for your situation.
1. Improve Product Descriptions: Ensure that your product descriptions are unique, informative, and provide value to the users. This can help differentiate your pages from those of third-party sellers and improve overall search engine rankings.
2. User-generated content: Encourage customers to leave reviews and ratings for the products on your e-commerce site. User-generated content not only helps with SEO but also builds trust and credibility for your brand.
3. Structured Data Markup: Implement structured data markup, such as Schema.org, on your product pages. This helps search engines understand the context and details of your products, potentially leading to rich snippets in search results.
4. Internal Linking: Establish a strong internal linking structure within your e-commerce site. This helps search engines discover and crawl your pages more effectively, while also spreading ranking authority throughout your site.
5. Site Speed Optimization: Ensure that your e-commerce site is fast and responsive. Page speed is an important ranking factor for search engines, and it also improves user experience, leading to higher conversion rates.
6. Mobile Optimization: Optimize your e-commerce site for mobile devices. With a growing number of users shopping on mobile, having a mobile-friendly site is crucial for both SEO and user satisfaction.
If you want to run an effective ecommerce SEO campaign, make sure to kick things off with keyword research.
Try to increase
- your keywords
- your link
- your traffic
- your content
- your domain
- your local marketing
Optimizing e-commerce websites is very different from the usual sites like blogs, forums etc. It can be a tedious task to optimize an online store with thousands of products.
