Here are the most important factors in terms of on-site optimization:

1.   Content of the Page – actually this is the number one priority since this is what the users are looking for. It one of the priorities in making you rank in search results. So, it must be something good or uniquely valuable where in it is something worth to link for.
2.   Title Tags and  Meta Description – it is the next essential element because it defines the title of the document or a page it is often used by search engine result pages (SERPs) to display as preview snippets.  Additionally why it is important because it creates  value in the following:
a.   Relevancy

Onsite or On page optimization plays a  most important role. If your ON page optimization is done in an effective way then your off page activities will give better results. I think for onsite optimization firstly, you have to analyze your website and have to check various SEO factors. The main onsite optimization factors are:

1. Keywords Research Analysis
2. Meta title and description creation
3. Headers tag optimization
4. Image optimzation
5. Canonical issue
6. Content optimization
7. URL structuring
8. 404 custom error page
9. Sitemap
10. Robots.txt file
11. W3C errors
12. Website page load time and others

Following are the factors to consider for Onsite Optimization
1) Content is high-quality, relevant, fresh and at least 500 words in length.
2) Target search phrase is included in page headline.
3) Target search phrase is included in at least one sub-headline.
4) Target search phrase is repeated three to 10 times within body copy. Don’t over-do it, or the page may get downgraded as spam. Keep the reader in mind as you work with the target search phrase. Copy should always be reader-friendly.
5) Page includes relevant images and/or graphics that help illustrate the target search phrase.
6) Captions for images and/or graphics include the target search phrase.
7) Content and/or tools and resources on the page are so good that visitors will want to share your link with others and post your link elsewhere.
8) Location: If you are optimizing for specific country, state, city or regional names, be sure they are in your copy and perhaps in a page footer.
9) No misspellings or poor grammar. Yes, the search engines downgrade for either.
10) Inclusion of social media links and / or user discussion or reviews. Pages with active visitor interaction are scored higher than static pages.
