file name and alt tag is very important for Image SEO

Image optimization is an important aspect of on-page optimization. Here are some tips to help you perform image optimization:

1. File Size: Compress your images to reduce their file size without compromising quality. Smaller image files help improve webpage load speed.

2. Image Format: Use the appropriate file format for your images. JPEG is best for photographs and realistic images, while PNG is better for images with transparency or text.

3. Image Dimensions: Resize your images to the required dimensions before uploading them to your website. This prevents unnecessary scaling and reduces the file size.

4. File Name: Give descriptive names to your image files that include relevant keywords. Avoid using generic names like "image001.jpg."

5. Alt Text: Add descriptive alt text to all your images. Alt text helps search engines understand what the image is about, and it also improves accessibility for visually impaired users.

6. Captions and Titles: Utilize captions and titles for your images whenever possible. They provide additional context and can be optimized with relevant keywords.

7. Image Sitemaps: Submit an image sitemap to search engines, which helps them discover and index your images more efficiently.

8. Mobile Optimization: Ensure your images are responsive and mobile-friendly. Make sure they automatically adjust to fit different screen sizes.

By following these best practices, you can optimize your images for better search engine visibility and improved user experience.

Hi,
I agreed with the points mentioned by Hogward. The points are explained in simple and easy to understand language.
By following the above points one can optimize all the images on the website and make it readable to the crawlers.

Yes i am agree with your points. Search engine can not read image that is why SEO prefers alternate text .

For better benefits, the first and most important thing you must do is, create an image with your own, check how unique your image is(you can do this with the help of new Google image search where you can upload the image and check its uniqueness). Add proper alt tag and most importantly, use the image that is relevant. Even size of the image matters. The bigger the size of the image, the better it will rank in search results but don't make it irrelevantly bigger.

You can put relevant keywords in Alt and Title attribute for main images of your web page. It helps Google's crawler to know what the image is all about as Google can't fetch what information an image has inside it. The title and alt attribute are not same as most people use same text for title and alt attribute for an image.
Title attribute works as title of the image however alt tag is the alternative information about image that explain what the image is all about. For example if you have an image of Microsoft Office tool on your website you can use title and alt attribute as given below:

Title:Microsoft Office
Alt:Word Processing and office related dоcumentation tool

Hey monika,

you can easily do it on your own, as long as you take the time to understand some basic principles and put them into practice.

What are the most essential on site SEO elements:

- the web pages titles

- the keyword density in your site's text

- the use of keywords in headings

- the use of keywords at the beginning of your page's text

- the use of keywords in alt tags

- the use of keywords in metatags

- the use of keywords in meta descriptions

Hi

For on-page image optimisation, there are 3 main things you can do:

1.) Make sure that the actual filename of the image is relevent to the keyword that your webpage is optimised for. e.g. if the webpage was focused on 'dog obedience training' and your image was of a dog being obedient for it's owner - then you could name the image something like 'dog_obedience_training_in_action.jpg'

2.) Make sure that you make good use of alt and title text ('alt' and 'title' are the same thing but you should use both as they are used differently by different browsers).

3.) Finally, it is always better for the search engines to specify the width and height of the image within your <img> tag.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need any more help.

Image searches can bring the bulk of traffic over to your website when done properly. Make sure that you tag your images with keywords that are relevant to the image, and not just keywords to your website. When people see your image in the search, they won't pay any attention if it doesn't match their search query.

Of course that is a rule that applies to SEO in general, but it's just one of the many mistakes I made starting out.

Image optimization is the basic steps for your SEO campaign. One of the basic tips for image linking is to avoid linking your images directly. Always use relevant anchor texts whenever linking your images. This is even more effective for your SEO when embedding images in a guest post or other pages intended to get a link back to your site.

Here are a few tips for optimizing your images to improve their performance on the page and in search.
1. Find the right images
2. Use the keyword(s) in the file name
3. Create descriptive alt text
4. The right anchor text
5. Make sure the image matches the content
6. Don't keyword stuff when filling out things like image alt text. Your alt text, captions and file names should be short and descriptive, not a long list of keywords

Audit your assets: compress ruthlessly with tools like JPEGmini to trim file sizes sans visible artifacts, aiming for under 100KB per image. Embrace WebP or AVIF for superior compression ratios that load like butter.
Craft alt tags that double as accessibility wins and SEO boosters, weaving in long-tail keywords naturally. Lazy loading keeps the scroll smooth by deferring non-critical loads, while srcset ensures responsive images scale flawlessly across viewports.

The best ways to optimize images are to compress the files, use the right format (JPEG, PNG, WebP), add descriptive alt text, resize the images for web, and use lazy loading to speed up your site.
