Can anyone rival google? It seems like I should spend most of my time optimizing for Google because of how often it is used compared to Yahoo or Bing. Do you get most of your traffic from google for your website?
I run about 5-6 sites and all of them get most of their traffic from google. I'd say maybe 10% of the traffic is made up of Bing/Yahoo search users.
Bottom line, stick to optimising for google as it's the best paying traffic out there.

Gotta say google kicks ass, and for the most part if you follow their rules they treat you well. I have however had good traffic from yahoo on occaissions, so don't rule them out. Just have your primary focus as google
Google is the only search engine that most need to optimise for the rest are rubbish and will only ever give you very limited traffic.
Pretty much everyone and most of the users that actually click on ads etc use Google, making it the only choice for any serious webmaster... If you look at other search engines, expect dismal results.
google is and always remin king for a long time. There are very few that can comete. Unless someone comes up with a completely outlandish idea of a search engine. Until we can just sit back and admire Google.

A couple of years ago Yahoo and Google had a close rivalry, but I think now google has pretty much left everybody else behind. I get most of my traffic from google.com.
I don't think there's much point in optmizing for any other site than google. Cause most of the traffic will flow in from there so it's best to do so. Yahoo and bing also bring in some traffic, google remains the king.
I agree, optimize for Google because other SEs copy all Google's methods.
So if your site is optimized for Google it is optimized for all SEs.
Google gives more traffic, so it's the most important.
Then again if you can rank very high in another search engine it is great traffic, google keywords can be more competitive to get high rankings in.

I think up until several years ahead Google will stay on top. Search engine optimization will keep focusing on how to get good search engine result page on Google. Based on experienced, people use Google to search the websites they need more often than other search engine. It means most visitors are coming to my websites from Google.

google is best search engine than other search engine.
I completely agree and there is a strong reason behind this. Google is a excellent user friendly SE rather than other Search Engines and Google has smartest algorithms to provide most relevant search results in minimum time period that's why Google is king.
Obviously Google is king. Because 90% user first choice Google search engine.
I guess this remains to be seen. We don't know for sure if in the near future somebody would be brave enough to put up a fight with Google. A genius might be born and develop something which will rival and pull Google down. But, as of now Google is definitely the Web King.

It's the biggest thing on the internet yet. Google won't be overshadowed by any search engine just yet. As of now, almost everything we do goes through Google.
