Title: Keyword Trends ?? The Dowser?

I'm still new in this SEO thing, sorry for these stupid questions:

What is keyword trends?
Does it mean that I really have to change my site's keywords depends on the trends or something?

Some peoples are talking about The Dowser program to help us find out about keyword trends but I can't afford to buy it :(
I couldn't find any other free versions.
And finally, does The Dowser really help us on increasing site traffic or page rank?

Keywords Trends in Google News stories show how frequently your topic have appeared , and in which geographic regions people have searched for them most.

Keyword trends = search pattern of the keyword.
There are some keyword which get high search traffic during some part of the year (Christmas gift, for instance). Tools like dowser helps in studying such trends.

Google provides one free tool, Google trends.

Google Trends is the  keyword research tool that can help you see at a glance how many people are searching on Google for the keywords you're considering.

Google Trends is also a quick way to compare between the singular and plural version of your search engine keywords.It doesn't tell you is the specific number of times your specified keywords were actually searched on. You only see a graph that doesn't show actual searches per day just a comparison between time periods, between specified keywords, or both. But, you have other tools, like the "Digital Point tool"  and a number of others that can give you that information.

Another suggestion for using "WordTracker's free keyword research tool".

Keyword Trends tells what demand of  particular keyword in geographical area wise .
