Title: Linking Problem
Post by: manvbf on 10-09-2011, 03:46:30
Hi all,

I have a website with around 800+ pages of unique content. Now obviously, I cannot link to all these pages from the homepage - So, instead I created a script that randomly selects 20 pages, and links to them from the homepage. These change everytime the page loads. So, in theory, each time the search engine crawls my website, the bot should see these new links and follow them, which will speed up the indexing progress.

This works, and in fact, all my pages were indexed within a few weeks. However, my rankings aren't as stable as they were. Since the homepage links change, for one week, a certain inner page can be linked from the homepage for the search engine. However, as soon as the search engine crawls the site, and doesn't find it there, it's link popularity decreases (I think).

Is there anything I can possibly do to solve this?

And would it really effect the rankings?

Thanks

You are complicating the whole task.. Why don't you create a .xml Sitemap and submit it to search engine. This will allow crawlers to crawl your all the pages.

As far as their linking to home page is concerned, create and .html Sitemap and place it on your home page.

Yes, simply create xml sitemap with all your links and link it with your home page. This solves your problem.
