Title: Site Maps for SEO
Post by: RichardSmith on 02-25-2013, 08:19:19
Hello Friends,

Using a site map can help getting more pages crawled and indexed by search engines like Google, but it may not alone be considered as a guarantee for top positions online, especially in competitive niches which are targeted by a lot of big portals. You can make use of HTML or XML versions of site maps to ensure your content pages will be easily reached.

Links still seem to be the real power behind the top rankings online and even if websites are containing thousands of content pages and powered by site map files, but they do not have any incoming links, as you can guess their ranks would not be that satisfactory. Site map can be among useful on-age optimization programs to use most of the time.

Thanks and Regards

Using sitemaps has many benefits, not only easier navigation and better visibility by search engines. Sitemaps offer the opportunity to inform search engines immediately about any changes on your site.

Think of a sitemap as a list of files that give hints to the search engines on how they can crawl your website. Sitemaps help search engines find and classify content on your site that they may not have found on their own.

I think, that Sitemaps make navigating make your site easier and having an updated sitemap on your site is good both for your users and for search engines. Sitemaps are an important way of communication with search engines. While in robots.txt you tell search engines which parts of your site to exclude from indexing, in your site map you tell search engines where you'd like them to go.

Site Maps are important for SEO, because using Site Maps allow website owners to inform search engines what pages on their website are available for crawling.  Also, it helps search engines and even users navigate through your website in smoother and more understandable way.

A lot of webpages will find a SEO sitemap  useful in improving their performance. SEO stands for "Search engine optimization", the process that aims to create or revise Internet sites so that it can  be better found by search engines. The objective of SEO campaigns is to have websites appear in the top listing or first results page of search engines.

Sitemaps are a protocol that allows the webmaster for a website to inform Google and other major search engines about URLS on a website that are available for crawling. Sitemaps allow search engines to find all of your webpages, that they might otherwise miss when indexing.

Provide data on site images and the page locations of these images:

I have tried this. This is very good code and it works  properly.

A sitemap only tells crawlers where URLs live; it doesn't inject PageRank or build link juice. If your project has zero backlinks, thin authority, and no outreach strategy, Google will crawl it politely and still ignore it in the SERPs.
Technical SEO without real link building is basically cosmetic optimization.
