A while ago a lot of people were crazy about directory submission, however, recently social bookmarking has become more popular. Which method do you prefer more.
I think the same thing is now for social bookmarking.
It gives you a little traffic. That is all.
I am using both methods. I know, it can be useless, but anyway more backlinks - more rank!
Most of social bookmarking sites adding your link with "no-follow" attributes so it is rare possible to count that links as backward links by search engines, still you can get some traffic on your site through such sites. Directory links can increase your back ward links also.
Personally I faith on both.
I am not very sure about free directory links. To improve traffic you can try the paid directory links.
I lost some money after using paid directories. They failed to send traffic and I could not get any sign up to my business program.

Oh it's so shabby. That's why I never tempted to pay for directory submission. It's not worth any penny. Submitting to directories and bookmarking manually could be so boooring and wasting time. I don't count on both, though I do both.
I prefer free directory submission.. My website is not only dependend on submissions but other things, so no worry.. ;D :D
I prefer social bookmarking as it dont take time to accept the articles like D.S.. But its not like that submitted to S.B. and we will get instant traffic, the topic matters, people like to see unique topic so they will see its unique and read it..
Both work to be quite honest, social is better for immediate traffic, directory submission is better for long term backlinks :)

Social bookmarking sites helps you to get good traffic if you don't spam them and help community by giving them some useful contents.
few directories were use to be of importance but not much now, some handful of most popular directories were banned by Google as they were selling links so better market your site and service at social bookmarking sites without spamming them.
The Social bookmarking is a technique for Internet users to systematize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online. different file sharing, the resources themselves are not shared, merely bookmarks that orientation them.

In my opinion the people crazy about both types. Directory submission and social bookmarking submission. Both are popular. Directories are less valuable nowadays. Social bookmarking is a good way, but I am sure Google is putting a filter on some of those as well due to high SPAM.

I prefer using social bookmarking since you can build then a profile add friend and build a network so it is easy to promote your site, but I also used directory submission in my campaign.
Both options are good but if you will going to choose between the two

Both methods are doing well, but Social bookmarking most of my best for getting more traffic on my website.

I would prefer directory submission too because almost all of the directory site has atleast page rank 3 and above.. but it social bookmarking, im not that sure that it is very effective now a days..

To take more traffic on a site both are essential now a days. According to me Directory submission is much effective than social bookmarking so i prefer Directory submission than social bookmarking.

I like directories submission, the directory submission increase links of the sites and may generate traffics. But, if you have time, do both of them, they both have importance.

Make sure you do not bookmark your own sites. If done by others from different IP addresses, it will be most effective.

im using both. I posting on social bookmarking is more appealing because it was approved and posted immediately. However, in directory submission it takes 6 to 7 months before your submission will be approved specially when its free listing.
