These were the important emerging trends in SEO:

Core Web Vitals: In 2020, Google announced a new set of metrics related to speed, responsiveness, and visual stability, to help site owners measure user experience on the web. These vitals were integrated into Google's ranking algorithm in May 2021 as part of the Page Experience Update.

Passage Indexing/Ranking: Google commenced passage-based indexing in late 2020, allowing Google to rank specific passages from a web page independently, improving the search experience for queries that can be answered by individual passages in long-form content.

Mobile-first Indexing: Google switched to mobile-first indexing, meaning the mobile version of a website is used for indexing and ranking.

AI and Machine Learning: Google’s AI algorithm update, known as BERT, and other machine learning algorithms are transforming how Google understands and interprets searcher intent.

E.A.T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness): Quality content is now, more than ever, the king. A focus on E.A.T signals, especially in YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) sectors, should play a key part in your SEO strategy.

Voice Search SEO: As the use of AI assistants like Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant continues to increase, optimizing for voice search became more important.

Semantic SEO: Optimizing content based on topics and meanings, rather than keywords, is becoming more crucial with Google getting better at understanding context.

More trends were emerging in SEO:

Video SEO: With the rise of platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, and social media sites that support video, video SEO was becoming more important. This includes optimizing video titles, descriptions, and tags, including accurate transcripts, and hosting videos on your own domain to increase the chances that people will find your content when they search for related keywords.

Zero Click Searches: Due to the rise of SERP (Search Engine Results Page) features such as Knowledge Panels, People Also Ask boxes, and Local Packs, many searches are ending on the results page itself, without the user clicking through to a website. This is making SEO more about building brand visibility than just website traffic.

Structured Data: Structured data and schema markup can help search engines better understand your content and can be used to enhance your appearance in the search results with rich snippets.

Omnichannel SEO: This involves optimizing your content for multiple channels (like email, apps, social media, and your website) to ensure a consistent experience no matter how users find you.

User-First SEO: This approach sees technical enhancements and content improvements as complementary parts of a holistic SEO strategy aimed at improving user experiences, site functionality, and content quality at the same time.

Privacy Measures: With the increased importance of online privacy, changes in areas like third-party cookies impacts SEO. The importance of first-party data and ways to obtain them ethically was also trending.

Let's delve into some advanced topics and strategies that were gaining:

Localization and GEO Intelligence: The ability to understand and cater to local languages and semantics was becoming essential for global businesses. Geo-targeting, Local SEO, and cultural understanding were all seen as increasing SEO trends.

Search Intent Optimization: Not just focusing on keywords, but understanding and optimizing for the 'user intent' behind those keywords was becoming key. The goal is to provide content that fulfills the searcher's needs, thereby improving user interaction metrics and SEO performance.

Data Science and SEO: SEO professionals started embracing data science techniques to mine the wealth of data available to them. This involvement covers everything from SERP analysis, content gap analysis, automated reporting, and more.

Long-form Content: Studies were pointing towards a preference for longer, more comprehensive content. Longer content tends to perform better in SERPs and provide more value to users.

Predictive SEO: With the help of AI and predictive analysis tools, being proactive and anticipating changes in SEO strategies were becoming a trend. Google Discover is one such tool that uses AI to predict what content users will want to see.

Image Optimization: With Google's advancements in visual search technology, such as Google Lens, image optimization for SEO was becoming even more critical.

Featured Snippet Optimization: Featured snippets were sought-after positions in Google search. By optimizing content for featured snippets, you can increase your visibility on SERPs.

Well, this is again the same question, we use to face in the beginning of each year. But the thing is not like that. The basics of the SEO will remain same. Some time Google changes the priorities through its algorithm. But if you are maintaining these following things, there is no chance to get any hit.

Avoid dynamically generated huge content
Avoid thin and tine content
Avoid getting links form common/personal blog networks (PBNs)
Avoid too many landing pages targeting KW permutations
Avoid excessive 3rd party ads in your website
Site must be purely responsive and AMP tested
Always test site speed and tune accordingly
Keep maintaining blog attached with your domain
Maintain social media awareness campaigns
Get link from authentic sites only

Voice Search and Digital Assistants

Voice search technology presents a big opportunity for changing the way we communicate and process information. The rise of digital assistants has presented a growing market that can change the way search queries are performed. According to Google, 1 out of 5 searches already come from voice queries.
