domain to another, and it will take effect on new domain in a few days, the most obvious example is SEOmoz which redirect seomoz.org to moz.com. Right now, most of keywords which ranked well for seomoz.org now
ranks the same for moz.org.

However, if your domain received too many 301 redirects from other domains, the positive effect will only counts in less than two weeks. And this is the way most of backchat SEO do, even now in these days to gain quick keyword ranking.

Indeed, it depends, however much of the time, no. Sidetracks are not awful for SEO, however — as with such a large number of things — just on the off chance that you set up them effectively. An awful usage may raise a wide range of ruckus, from loss of PageRank to loss of traffic. Diverting pages is an unquestionable requirement in the event that you roll out any improvements to your URLs.

A redirect is a way to send both users and search engines to a different URL from the one they originally requested. The three most commonly used redirects are 301, 302, and Meta Refresh.

Redirects are not bad for SEO, but — as with so many things — only if you put them in place correctly. A bad implementation might cause all kinds of trouble, from loss of PageRank to loss of traffic. Redirecting pages is a must if you make any changes to your URLs.

However, you need to be sure anywhere you do redirects, they are done safely – otherwise you are putting your users in harm's way by enabling phishing attacks. Modern web-mail services are very good at spotting spam and other types of malicious messages.

Are redirects bad for SEO? Well, it depends, but in most cases, no. Redirects are not bad for SEO, but — as with so many things — only if you put them in place correctly. A bad implementation might cause all kinds of trouble, from loss of PageRank to loss of traffic.
