I don't think that it can help with SEO of a website because all the links are nofollow. Having said that it doesn't mean that it is a beneficial for an online business or a website, it can really help to send the message across to a large number of people especially if you have good number of followers on twitter.

Google somehow take into account social signals regardless of nofollow. And it likes your brand name being mentioned (weithout links). It probably doesn't add anything to PR but improve your site's trust. Another thing from social media (and Twitter as such) visitors from it come to read your material and spend some time on the site thus improving your bounce rate.

Totally agree but you need to have a lot of real followers.
Twitter is great for getting traffic. But AFAIK all External Links in Twitter are under rel="nofollow" tag, so it's not so useful for SEO.
