The reason for my request is that I need your help to choose a good web host offering servers in multiple locations. Want to start offering VPN service. So, what places can you recommend me to look at? I've already found several web hosts, but know nothing about them. Any info on Hostnamaste.com budget dedicated server hosting solutions? Where can I find any possible info about web hosting providers' reliability? What can you recommend me to do?
For a VPN service I would check these things: the port speed and how traffic is counted (a VPN eats a lot of traffic, ask in writing what happens at the limit), the locations you really need (test the ping from your target countries to each datacenter before paying), IPv4 plus IPv6 on every server, the host's abuse policy (some hosts suspend VPN servers after complaints, so ask how they handle them), and Anti-DDoS. To judge reliability before committing, take the cheapest plan for a month, test speed and ping at different hours and see how fast support answers a pre-sales question. A VPS is usually enough to start, dedicated servers make sense when one machine carries most of your users.
