Yahoo attributes a huge increase in clicks on stories in its "Today" module on the home page to a sophisticated algorithm that predicts what users want to read. The algorithm, called CORE (Content Optimization and Relevance Engine), generates 45,000 versions of the module every five minutes and chooses which ones to display to users based on their gender and age (obtained if they have registered for a Yahoo account) and previous clicks on Yahoo. CORE figures out which story packages are attractive to which users by testing them before a select group of users in each demographic. The algorithm has made Yahoo editors savvier, they say, about what content will appeal to readers; editors can override the automated recommendations to promote an important story, even if it isn't predicted to generated a lot of interest. general location
time of day
past sites visited (in some cases)
the query itself
search history (yours correlated with other users')
bookmarks you've saved with the search provider
blog and forum posts you've written using your username for the search provider

don't need to know algorithm because more visitors will always be from google
and just make backlinks and results will show themselves

yahoo algoritham is totaly diffrent from google. yahoo chаck on page and off page optimization while searching on the page. He follow all the link which related to your site.

Yahoo Algorithm is not far from Google Algorithm but different at some points, Yahoo gives much interests in taking its web directory as part of the its Ranking Algorithm. It is sad but real, if you are not in Yahoo Web Directory, you can wait a long time before you appear in Yahoo SERPS.
