I've been told in the past that if you're a link seller you need to put on different C class ips ? why do people request this and is it really necessary ?

Many people request different C class IPs when selling links for a specific reason - it's an SEO strategy aimed at boosting the credibility and authority of the linked website.

By using different C class IPs, which represent distinct IP address ranges, it creates the appearance of diverse and organic link sources. This can help search engines view the backlinks as more natural and genuine, potentially leading to higher search rankings.

However, it's important to note that the necessity of using different C class IPs for link selling can vary depending on the specific circumstances and goals. SEO practices and strategies are constantly evolving, so it's always a good idea to stay up to date with the latest trends and guidelines in the industry.

Because if donor and acceptor have the same C or D class it would be possible that they belong to the same owner.
So, in this case link selling does not work.

That's rubbish mate. What about if you're on a VPS hosting or even single account hosting. You're sharing one IP address with 100's of other sites, there's no way google will penalise you.

I think the real issue is that people spam and put stupid copied spammy sites on the same server and these google will penalise.
