Hidden link
« on: 08-06-2013, 01:20:26 »
The hidden links are not those that are present on the webpage to be viewed but still they are always set in an image file and can be seen through by using hyperlink. When the image gets clicked by someone it moves to some other webpage. In such a case the Google search results of that website gets hampered.

It is a type of a link that is invisible. It made invisible using css by moving or coloring it
- hidden text that also happens to be hyperlinked, e.g. white text on a white background, and the text is a link
- using CSS to make hyperlinks that are tiny, like 1 pixel high text
- hiding links in something like the period in the middle of a paragraph of text
some web site owners would add lots of Anchor Text (links) including their keywords and hide them from humans (by using say white text on a white background) so search engine spiders could see them but they weren't viewable on the page.

It's also possible to hide links in the page code too.

In my view this would add little to a site's ranking and would probably have a negative effect, if discovered, the site could be banned too.

Hidden links are just one of many black hat techniques that are used by website designers to help improve their rankings in the Search Engine Results Pages. Hidden content and links would be used to deceive search engines into thinking that content was more relevant to the viewers.

Hiding text or links in your content to manipulate Google’s search rankings can be seen as deceptive and is a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Text (such as excessive keywords) can be hidden in several ways, including:

  • Using white text on a white background
  • Locating text behind an image
  • Using CSS to position text off-screen
  • Setting the font size to 0
  • Hiding a link by only linking one small character—for example, a hyphen in the middle of a paragraph
