Short URL vs. Long URL
« on: 03-30-2016, 00:46:41 »
Hi, how are you doing

I am new to SEO, and need to get your advice about using URL

Is it better to use long URL for example:
http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20160329-samsung-smart-windshield-the-worst-good-idea

or

Short URL for example:
http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20160329
or even shorter:
http://www.bbc.com/yhd5a86

If the best way is to use long URL, and I used short URL, how much it will effect SEO for the website?
I mean how many out of 10 from your view to effect the SEO?

Thanks so much

According to Google short URL is more SEO friendly then long URL. URL with 3 to 5 words are perfectly find but anything longer than that with not have much benefits and search engines will simply ignore them. If your URL is too long than it would be really hard for your readers to understand your pages, that is why having well structured  short URL will be more beneficial in terms of SEO. Another reason why Google prefer short URL isthat many spammers try to stuff keywords in URLs to get higher rankings.

According to google short URL is better than the long URL because in short URL 3-5 words is enough which is useful for search engines and it avoids the spam.

Not easy to explain it, I think you should join some course for understanding more.
It's not simple to understand it, you need more time and experience to know it clearly.

Short URL is more SEO friendly than Long URL because Google says that those url can be easily find and rest of them will be ignored if that url consists ,pre than five words.

Hello

I think Short URL have a greater importance in Search engine optimization. Search engine prefers short URL and gives them priority because they are user-friendly and clearly readable. Always keep in mind that your URL should be static, not dynamic, and it should be keywords rich so that it will create impact in ranking also.

Thanks
