Social media generate traffic but also help to increase web site ranking in SERP. Now a days both are compulsory social media as well as link building. They both are used to get traffic and ranking.

Social Media also medium impact on SERP's because Social media population is high. So it will deliver some traffic to the Business site.
Social media will be the medium factor of the google 200+ factors Algorithm. May be it's changed in future.

Any way we can get traffic from social media so we do share our contents.

Social media delivers deep impacts on SERPs. The increased traffic through social media is different than the traffic we get from a link on other sites. it is because we get the respondents indulge in repeated dialogue that provides opportunity to to do business also because we get more chances to convince. Social media activities also help in brand formulation; it is important for serp improvement.

How to participate:
*Create profiles on the social networks.  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ all come to mind.  Plus some of the smaller industry specific sites.
*Create a separate Facebook business page for your web site and each relevant product / service.
*Own the space – Simply creating the profiles and leaving them dormant does not work.  Talk about what you do, what you like, what you know.  This positions you as an *expert in your field, creates interest and most importantly gets you likes / fans / followers.  If you write a blog – even more of a linkable bonus.
*Add the +1 and like buttons to your web site and blog posts.  Throw in Twitter, Digg and other share buttons to give you more back-links.

Just to confirm, social media links do not affect rankings.  http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2325343/Matt-Cutts-Facebook-Twitter-Social-Signals-Not-Part-of-Google-Search-Ranking-Algorithms

However, having social profiles (Twitter, FB, LinkedIn, YT) does indeed help to establish authority and legitimacy in Google's eyes.  For example, if you're a small affiliate site and have a hard time locking into 1st page (a lot of dancing), adding these profiles tends to slow down the dance and get you into a stable rank.

I didn't get your question. What do you mean by "however Some websites like Google and helps to enhance in Google Ranking too as a result of it offers US dofollow links that crawled by Google"

Social media can increase the volume of traffic visiting your website, which is a key factor in search engine ranking. Oftentimes, the items being shared on social media that drive the most traffic are blog posts, videos, event listings, or other interesting content. If that content is interesting enough to get users to stick around for a while, reading the entire page or watching a full video before visiting other pages, rather than bouncing right away, you may be rewarded in the organic results. The search engines can measure these metrics - bounce rate, pages per visit, and time on site - and may use it to inform search results and ranking. :) :) :)
