I'm just starting with Google adwords as a way to get traffic to my website, are there any other methods of buying traffic that might help my long term traffic?  Thanks,

Place (advertising) links on related sites.
It can be a little expensive but will give you more relevant traffic.

In case of products that fetch you a high commission invest one fourths of the commission into advertising the product for one sale.
