How are Alexa's traffic ranks determined?

 Thousands of websites are ranked in popularity using the global ranking method known as Alexa rank. The expected daily unique visitor and pageview totals for a certain site over the previous three months are used to compute it. The popularity of a website is inversely correlated with its Alexa rank.
