For me, it is very important because I am following home based business named PTR (Paid to Review). In PTR business, we have to have website/blog that has high google PR and Alexa rank, because the higher our website/blog ranked in google and alexa, the more advertisers willing to buy review from us. For more detail visit my site and read about the purpose of pagerank for our web site.

For me, Yes it is worth it. Alexa ranking will tell people how popular and relevant your website is. With high PR and Alexa rankings, website will look more authorized and trusted. Although Alexa only displays a rough estimate of your traffic, this is still helpful for you and for the visitors as well.
