DBMS == Database Management System

Basically means the complete software suite for a particular database. Helps you manage the db on that platoform and various other diagnostic type things.. Great for transactional support!

Its back end of any website not only  SQl but these days .my sql and many other vendor softwares are becoming important for php sites .these softwares work as a server for storing data of websites .If you want to begin with read some good books and move to sql on this site w3schools.com

DBMS is DataBase Management System....
a database is just a record in the form of a text file or an MS Access dоcument.....or something resembling that.
basically its a passive record of say a bank account...its customer details.....Account balance etc
