Social networking is best for website traffic like facebook, twitter, g+ is increasing more visitor and make a good public reputation. Social bookmarking is best for backlink. Backlink is important for increasing page rank.

Both are good but among them I think that the term social networking is wider so it will be more beneficial for a website. Second thing  is that you will get more audience if you are working on the social networking sites as compared to the social bookmarking sites.
