Google and Original Content

I've heard that Google can't track original content. Like if someone copies content from your site, they may get better page ranks than you. Furthermore, they said Google is still in the process of solving this problem. I would appreciate it if someone confirms this.

Yes, you are right. Google has no algorithm that can detect original author of the content. The one that gets indexed first is labeled as 'original' and all the rest as 'duplicate'.
