Many people will link to your home, instead of the specific page. Especially big media. On that basis, I say build deep and let the home links gather naturally.

i found the last comment ,above mine was duplicate. well linking to internal pages makes it easy crawling to internal pages.Atleast home page must be linked  to all the important internal pages else how can one knows what is inside your site ?
