It's important to regularly monitor your backlink profile to identify any significant changes in the number of backlinks. A sudden loss of 40 to 60 backlinks per day is certainly alarming.

To address this issue, you should first investigate the nature of the lost backlinks. Determine if they are from high-quality or low-quality websites, and whether they are relevant to your content. Analyze the context in which these backlinks were placed and whether they were organic or acquired through manipulative practices.

Next, review your own website to ensure that there are no technical issues causing the loss of backlinks. Check for any server errors, changes in URL structure, or removal of content that might have led to the disappearance of backlinks.

It's also crucial to assess whether there have been any changes in Google's algorithms or penalties that could be impacting your backlink profile. Stay informed about industry updates and algorithm changes to better understand the broader implications.

Consider reaching out to webmasters of the sites that have removed your backlinks to understand the reasons behind their actions. Building positive relationships with these webmasters might help to recover some of the lost backlinks.

Lastly, focus on enhancing your link building efforts by creating high-quality, valuable content that naturally attracts backlinks. Engage in ethical and sustainable link building practices to gradually replenish and strengthen your backlink profile.

It's natural to be concerned about the rapid loss of backlinks, especially after consistently building them over a period of 4 years. In addition to the previous steps mentioned, it's important to consider the following:

1. Backlink Quality: Evaluate the quality of the remaining backlinks. Focusing on acquiring high-quality backlinks from authoritative and relevant websites can help offset the impact of lost backlinks.

2. Content Audit: Conduct a thorough audit of your website's content. Ensure that your content is valuable, relevant, and engaging to attract natural backlinks. Updating and refreshing existing content can also make it more appealing to potential linkers.

3. Link Reclamation: Look into opportunities for link reclamation, where you can reach out to webmasters of sites that have mentioned your brand but haven't linked to your website. This process can help in recovering lost backlinks and building new relationships.

4. Competitor Analysis: Analyze the backlink profiles of your competitors to identify potential link building opportunities. Understanding where your competitors are getting backlinks from can provide insight into effective strategies for acquiring new backlinks.

5. Diversification: Consider diversifying your backlink profile by seeking opportunities on different types of websites, such as industry-specific directories, local listings, guest blogging, and influencer collaborations.

6. Professional Help: If the situation remains challenging, consider consulting with an experienced SEO professional or agency to assess your backlink profile and develop a strategic plan for link building and recovery.

By taking a proactive approach and addressing these aspects, you can work towards stabilizing your backlink profile and potentially even strengthening it in the long run. Keep in mind that link building is an ongoing process that requires adaptability and a focus on creating value for users and other websites.

Can not really tell non seeing profile

It may be you have left 50 backlinks over one domain
It may be website owners updating own websites and deleting some content
If it is forum profiles- moderators often review inactive accounts and delete them
Other website webmasters(where your links are) gets notification from Google about too much outgoing links from their website and they must "kill" them
Plus N reasons ;)

You need to check that the backlink pages are still existing. Many websites get penalized and they get banned, and even some websites gets expired. You need to check your backlinks if they really exists.
