Actually, SEM is broader than SEO or SEO include SEM.
By using SEO, you can drive the traffic to your website and maybe increase the conversion rate.

SEO is the endless tweaking of keywords and backlinks, mostly a guessing game due to opaque algorithms - often wasted effort chasing Google's whims. SEM is just paid ads, if you have money, you get traffic, but it's a black hole for budgets if you don't micromanage every bid and keyword.

SMO? That's the fluff-posting memes and hoping for viral shares while ignoring real business goals. Most companies get trapped chasing vanity metrics in SMO or burn cash on SEM without a clear strategy.
