Not at all! You've heard correctly. SEO can help your website rank higher in search results and consequently drive more traffic to your website, it's just that ranking and traffic are a means to an end.

I switched focus to Bing indexing and submitted the sitemap via Bing Webmaster Tools. Noticed traffic is rising slowly from Bing and Yahoo.

Bing's algorithm still leans on LSI and on‑page relevance, while Yahoo piggybacks on Bing's index. So a Google‑first strategy will generally punch through to the others, just don't expect identical RankBrain gymnastics.
